Ellyn Jo Waller, Ed.D., a woman of deep faith and strong commitment to family, is the marriage and ministry partner of
Rev. Dr. Alyn E. Waller, Senior Pastor of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Waller is also a devoted mother of two and grandmother of two. Ellyn Jo is passionate about advocating for the least of these and serving her community with love and compassion.
Dr. Waller’s paternal heritage hails from the island of Barbados, which boasts a remarkable 99% literacy rate. Reading is in her blood, and she continues to honor this rich legacy by fostering a love of books in her own family and community.
In the year 2000, God told Ellyn Jo to write, and since then she has been on a journey to understand the full meaning of her calling. As a lifelong learner and voracious reader, Dr. Waller continually seeks to grow intellectually and spiritually. She teaches biweekly Bible studies for women at her church and beyond, where she seeks to rightly divide God’s Word to encourage and equip others in their spiritual development. She also writes a monthly blog, Under The Church Hat (underthechurchhatblog.org), which seeks to strengthen today’s Christian woman. Ellyn Jo enjoys traveling and purchases books for her grandchildren during her journeys. This has led her to create an international book collection, supporting local authors and providing her grandchildren with an extensive library of international children’s books.
A particular focus of Ellyn Jo’s book collection is acquiring Christian literature and cultural texts featuring diverse characters—a task that has often been challenging. Her desire to build home libraries filled with books that reflect her grandchildren’s identity led her to create Christian children’s books with primarily Black and Brown characters. Her first children’s book series centers on the Fruit of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5:22-23. This series offers young readers an opportunity to learn about the virtues that define a Christ-centered life.
Ellyn Jo believes that God blesses people with affluence and influence not for their own gain, but for the benefit of others. She strives to honor God and bless others in all that she does. Ellyn Jo’s desire to use her God-given resources for the betterment of others is demonstrated in her commitment to eradicating the horrific crime against humanity, human trafficking. Much of her life's work is dedicated to anti-human trafficking efforts, and she actively supports organizations working to restore the lives of women affected by this crime. Ellyn Jo seeks to impact the work mission by donating 25% of the proceeds from each book sold to organizations engaged in the loving restoration of women impacted by human trafficking.
